Are you on the hotdog or fish bun side?
What does it feel like to stand with your feet in two different countries at the same time? Go on, give it a try! You can actually do this, e.g. at the Schumacher Kate Bridge spanning the Krusau Meadow. But it wasn't always that easy to get from Germany to Denmark end vice versa. Even the precise position of the border wasn’t always the same. On the contrary. Wars were fought over it. Finally, about 100 years ago, there was a peaceful solution. People who lived in the border regions were allowed to determine for themselves which country they wanted to belong to. In the south, most people voted for Germany, in the north for Denmark. Between these two, the line was drawn, and this border exists even today. In Denmark, you get the tastiest hotdogs, in Germany the best fish buns. Happily, nowadays people are no longer enemies, and it is easy as ABC to eat a Danish hotdog and a German fish bun in two countries on the same day.
