Tourguide
More than 10,000 animal and plant species live in the Wadden Sea. For example, the grey seal, which rolls around so comfortably on land and weighs up to 300 kilos. It is the largest predator in Germany. The porpoise, on the other hand, with its about 1.70 metres, is one of the smallest of its kind (Germans btw. call it Schweinswal = Pig Whale). Seals are resourceful beard wearers: With their "beard hairs" they track down their prey even in murky water. Aged around 200 million years, the sturgeon was the oldest fish species in the Wadden Sea. Projects are currently underway to resettle it. White-tailed eagles have recently been breeding on the North Sea coast for a few years. Together they are the Big Five. By the way, there are also the Small Five, the Flying Five, and a lot more Wadden Sea discoveries waiting for you. Therefore, keep your eyes open in the mudflats – and remember to pack binoculars!
