Emil Wedervang Bruland realizes with his ballet company the idea of making dance not only palpable and immediate on stage but also in unusual places. The main element is improvisation, through which music finds its dance expression in a continually felt and experienced way. There are only a few fundamental agreements, so each step and each posture emerges from the moment of inspiration. As a stylistic device that has significantly shaped the aesthetics of contemporary dance since the end of the 20th century, improvisation thrives on the spontaneity of movements, space and time can dissolve in the flow, and one impulse playfully leads to the next. This leads to unpredictable situations, new structures and forms are created, and each performance thrives on the non-repeatable uniqueness of the moment.

As part of the Rendsburg Cultural Summer 2026, the norddeutsche sinfonietta and the ballet ensemble of the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater will take to the 'dance floor' of the Altstädter Markt.
At the beginning, the norddeutsche sinfonietta will play dances from various cultures and eras – and everyone is welcome to dance or improvise along!
Around 2:30 p.m., the ballet company will take over with their improvisation program HAUTNAH – and for a short, connecting moment, both ensembles will mix together!
