Öffentliche Generalprobe: Kinner Kinner (Komödie)
Comedy by Irmgard Wempner
“KIDS, KIDS – I HAVE KIDS!”
Nikolaus Goos, a retired and lonely book lover, longs for family. When midwife Lotte Hellwig moves in with her children Uta, Eike, and Jan, his dream comes true – but he finds himself in many tricky situations. With friend Heine Nissen and the temperamental Frieda Piepgras, he tries to mend Lotte’s marriage with ex-husband Peer. The reconciliation succeeds, but the family moves out again. Comfort: son Jan stays until graduation.
On September 1, 2026, Irmgard Wempner would have celebrated her 100th birthday. For the Low German Stage in Flensburg, this is an occasion to remember an extraordinary theater woman who has shaped our stage for decades.
Since her first performance in 1946, Irmgard Wempner has been one of the pivotal figures at the Low German Stage in Flensburg – as an actress, director, author, reciter, and passionate supporter of theater newcomers. Together with her later husband Fritz Wempner, she stood for a theater practice that extended far beyond the stage.
She not only brought great talent but also a solid education: After her schooling at the Auguste-Viktoria-Gymnasium in Flensburg, she completed her acting training at the first private acting school with Josefa Wender and Therese Thiessen-Licht. She took the final examination to become an actress in 1948 before the parity examination board. This professional foundation shaped her entire artistic work and her high standards for theater.
Irmgard Wempner was far more than a theater maker – she was the heart, voice, and soul of the Low German Stage in Flensburg. Her work remains unforgettable.
