Judas
He committed the ultimate betrayal, and that of the Son of God. Judas, the disciple of Jesus, who sold him for thirty silver coins. This part of the story is well known, but what drove him to it? Only he can answer that, and the renowned Dutch contemporary author Lot Vekemans gives him the opportunity to do so. A bit uncertain, Judas tries to lighten the mood with a joke, for he knows his reputation. He does not demand to be understood. It is enough for him that the audience listens. As a human, he speaks to humans and tells of himself and his past. Above all, however, Judas asks questions: Does it matter what he has done? What would have happened to him, to Jesus, and to Christianity if he had remained faithful? Was it not actually he who took on the sins of the world?
