Villazón & Mozart - SHMF 2026

Rolando Villazón is one of the most charismatic tenors of our time, a world star on the great opera stages from Milan to Munich, from Vienna to New York. The Süddeutsche Zeitung raved about his "contagious enthusiasm," while The Guardian praised him as a "born stage person with inexhaustible vitality." As a singer, passionate storyteller, director, and artistic director of the Salzburg Mozart Week, Villazón has dedicated himself in a very special way to the genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – and this year he is celebrating the 270th birthday of his favorite composer at the SHMF!
The anniversary program showcases the full range of Mozart's stage music and revolves around arias and scenes for kings, emperors, and a bird catcher. Look forward to an evening that does not celebrate Mozart's music in a museum-like way, but rather vividly, humanly, and compellingly – very much in the spirit of the composer himself, who never ceased to marvel at the human soul.
