On Saturday, September 12, we present an intimate concert and lecture featuring the internationally recognized soloist Niklas Walentin. The focus is on the history of the violin and its role in jazz.
Niklas Walentin presents a selection of famous and essential jazz standards in virtuosic arrangements for solo violin as well as excerpts from his latest album featuring arrangements by Svend Asmussen. He also shares the development of the violin as an instrument and its more than 400-year influence on human history.
Niklas Walentin has received more than 25 international music awards, has released 11 albums, and serves as the artistic director of several festivals in Europe. His debut album in the jazz genre was enthusiastically received in 2025. BBC 3 wrote, among other things: “So well crafted, a love letter through and through - Walentin’s playing is immaculate.”
Niklas Walentin returns to Flensborghus on October 29, where he will perform with the Snorre Kirk Trio.
