For a quarter of a century, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival has been awarding the Leonard Bernstein Award to outstanding young artists – names like Lang Lang, Lisa Batiashvili, or Martin Grubinger represent a success story that will open a new chapter in 2026. This year, the award goes to the French trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary. Even as a teenager, she made waves: at the age of 17, she released her first album, effortlessly blending classical and jazz, and quickly became a sought-after soloist on international stages – virtuosic, curious, and full of charisma. The SHMF celebrates this exceptional artist with a program that highlights her range: Haydn's brilliant Trumpet Concerto, Gershwin's "An American in Paris," and Beethoven's rousing seventh symphony. An evening that makes the future of the trumpet audible – and tells the story of an award that has been setting standards for 25 years.
There will be a program booklet for this event. When purchasing your tickets, simply add a program booklet voucher (€ 3). Your program booklet will be handed to you at the venue upon presentation of the voucher.
