A walk through the centuries – Church tour through St. Marien

The St. Marien Church, the church of seafarers and merchants, opens itself to visitors with an unexpected spatial experience – with its vastness, the silence, and the colors and shapes of its works of art. And yet, the church is not a museum, but an expression of Christian beliefs in their respective time of origin.

The images, the symbols are fascinating, often enigmatic, and in a church tour, an attempt is made,

to explain them to the visitors, to interpret them in light of the Christian background. Among them is, among others, the richly decorated, splendid altar, the memorial images, the epitaphs for meritorious citizens of Flensburg, or the impressive windows, created by the local artist Käte Lassen, following the steps of the confession of faith.
