The exhibition “On the Way Towards...” opens on 12 September and runs every day until 31 October 2026. Step into an extraordinary setting where natural materials are transformed into art, compelling stories and unique visual experiences.

On the way towards... a new Reformation?

“On the Way Towards...” is being created as part of Haderslev’s major celebration marking 500 years since the Reformation came to the town. In 1526, Haderslev became one of the first places in the Nordic region to put Lutheran ideas into practice, a full ten years before the Reformation was officially introduced across the rest of Denmark. It is with good reason, then, that Haderslev has become known as the Wittenberg of the North.

In Johnny Haugaard’s interpretation, the Luther Rose, Martin Luther’s personal seal and one of the best-known symbols of the Reformation, provides the starting point for a different kind of story. History meets the ever-changing natural world, while ideas from the past are brought to life through flowers, branches, plants and creative hands.

On the Way Towards... is not only about what came before. It also looks ahead, towards change, community, hope and new ways of seeing the world.

Perhaps that is what makes the experience so special. You may not know quite what to expect, but you can be sure you are stepping into a world far removed from everyday life. And you may leave with new thoughts and a fresh perspective on what once was.

On the opening day, 12 September, the exhibition opens at 12:12 PM.
On all other days, opening hours are 10:00 AM–5:00 PM.
