A cinematic journey through the world – the Bergmühle shows films from other countries and cultural areas and offers opportunities for intercultural encounters. This event is part of the "Intercultural Week 2026".

The Bergmühle presents the Mongolian feature film "The Veins of the World" (2020) by Byambasuren Davaa.

In the middle of the Mongolian steppe, eleven-year-old Amra lives with his mother Zaya, his father Erdene, and his little sister Altaa a traditional nomadic life. While Zaya takes care of the goat herd, Erdene works as a car mechanic and sells homemade cheese at the market. Amra, on the other hand, dreams of a performance in the popular talent show "Mongolia's Got Talent," which is soon organizing auditions at his school.

The family's peaceful life is threatened by the encroachment of multinational corporations searching for gold on a large scale and ruthlessly destroying the nomads' habitat. Amra's father Erdene is the leader of those who resist exploitation and do not want to let their land and life be taken away. He also fights for unity among the nomads, as not everyone has the courage to join the resistance. An accident that claims Erdene's life changes everything. Amra tries to take responsibility for the family and believes he must continue his father's fight.

"The Veins of the World" is an award-winning feature film as well as a pamphlet against the purely profit-oriented exploitation of a habitat and a policy that enables this.

The film is dubbed in German and has a duration of 95 minutes. Admission is free. The hat goes around.
