The Secrets of the Everyday
Textile Weavings from 75 Years of Peter Horn
Exhibition Opening:

“My love for textile weaving goes back to my youth. At the age of about 15, my mother influenced me in the technique of weaving, as she began to create household textiles, like upholstery fabrics and tablecloths: Preparing longer chains and mounting them on a four-shaft loom challenged my thinking and developed my manual skills.”
The Art Association Flensburg e.V. was able to engage Peter Horn, the oldest tapestry weaver in Germany, to showcase five of his large-format tapestries on the Museum Hill.
For Peter Horn, when creating tapestries, pictorial weaving is his medium to express time and simultaneity. Weaving is not a reproductive process for Peter Horn. He makes artistic decisions during the work, changing colors and forms of the original throughout the weaving process. The result reconciles the contrasts of the rigid, measurable and the fluid, unmeasurable, and is experienced as fulfilled time.
The exhibition opening will take place on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Hans-Christiansen-Haus.
The artist will be present.

Admission: 5 € plus museum entrance fee (including one drink)
Afterwards, the exhibition can be seen during the usual opening hours of the Museum Hill until December 6, 2026.
