from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sandwig Strandbistro
In her autobiographical narrative "Roots in the Wind," Vera Ufoma Ukuwrere takes you along her very personal life journey: from Nigeria to Northern Germany, through a difficult childhood and youth to her life as an independent woman and loving mother. She talks about abuse, racism, and a painful mother-daughter relationship, but also about people who have supported her and the strength of embracing one's own roots. Particularly touching is her perspective on her own daughter: Vera wants to enable her a different upbringing – filled with love, self-confidence, and the knowledge of her own heritage.

A personal, honest, and moving reading about survival, healing, and the courage to rewrite one's own story.
