The Landscape Museum Unewatt near Langballig invites you on a journey into the rural history of Schleswig-Holstein. On five museum islands with historic buildings, a windmill, and traditional handicrafts, you will experience life from past centuries amid the idyllic landscape of Angeln.

Landscape Museum Unewatt – Experience Rural History in Angeln

The Landscape Museum Unewatt in the region of Angeln near Langballig is one of the most beautiful open-air museums in Schleswig-Holstein. Along a circular path through the idyllic village, you will find five museum islands with historical buildings, including the windmill “Fortuna,” the butter mill, a smokehouse, and the Christesenhof. Here, the rural culture and everyday history of the region of Angeln come alive in an authentic way.

Unlike in a classical museum, you discover history directly in the village and in the surrounding cultural landscape. Historical craft demonstrations, changing exhibitions, and family-friendly events make the Landscape Museum Unewatt a popular destination for families, culture enthusiasts, and vacationers at the Flensburg Fjord.

The museum is partially accessible. Some museum buildings and paths are only limitedly accessible due to their historical construction. However, there are barrier-free parking options available.

Whether as a family outing, cultural experience, or a stopover during your vacation in the region of Angeln – the Landscape Museum Unewatt uniquely combines nature, history, and North German tradition.

Our tip: Combine your visit with a walk through the idyllic valley of Langballigau. At the end of the path, you will be greeted by fresh Baltic Sea air, a small beach oasis, and a wonderful view all the way to the Danish coast – perfect for a relaxing break in nature.
