She was a seamstress and a fortune teller. Franziska Enger, the illegitimate daughter of a forest hunter, called "Jomfru Fanny" (Maiden Fanny) was a contemporary "media star" in her time, because newspapers had reported on her visions. Early in the 19th century she redicted that in the year 1870 there would be a battle, and Denmark would reconquer the lost parts of its empire. Also, the king would ride on a white horse". And so it happened. Although she had missed the date, in July 1920 King Christian X triumphantly crossed the border into “reunited” North Schleswig. Purposely, he had chosen a white horse. Some said, he even had the horse painted white in order to match the prophecy. However, this has been refuted.
By the way: the sewing kit of "Jomfru Fanny" is on display in Aabenraa’s cultural history museum (Museum Sønderjylland).
