An uncanny garden
More than 200 years ago, each of two wealthy Flensburg merchants created a large garden for themselves: Peter Clausen Stuhr and Andreas Christiansen Junior. Parts of the two gardens are still here. Together as a unit, they are called the Christiansenpark. It is a beautiful English style park, a lovely place for a walk. You will even find a small waterfall. But then there is also the Mummy Grotto, a rock cave containing a very old coffin made of stone. It has the shape of a human being and was probably exhibited as a "gruesome attraction" at the time. A bit like the “haunted house”. Another creepy experience is the Mirror Grotto, a tiny underground cave with many mirrors in an octagonal shape. The Mirror Grotto is open to visitors, located near the Museum Mountain. You can explore them during opening hours.
