Museumsberg Flensburg – art, culture, and history with a view of the fjord

The Museumsberg Flensburg is one of the most significant museums in Schleswig-Holstein and is one of the most beautiful sights in the fjord city. High above the west bank of the Flensburg Fjord, two historic buildings await you: the Heinrich-Sauermann-Haus and the Hans-Christiansen-Haus. Here you can experience art, culture, and regional history from the Middle Ages to the 21st century.

Especially impressive are the original farmers' parlors and the historical furniture collection, which is unique in Germany. The exhibition is complemented by a significant gallery of paintings featuring works by artists such as Emil Nolde, Erich Heckel, and Hans Christiansen, as well as changing special exhibitions.

The Museumsberg is also part of a historical landscape garden, which the merchant family Christiansen had created in the 19th century. Together with the Old Cemetery and the Christiansenpark, it forms an idyllic park ensemble. A special highlight is the preserved mirror grotto – an underground, octagonal dome building. Additionally, the Museumsberg is a station on the Flensburg Art Nouveau Trail.

The museum is largely accessible. Both buildings have elevators, accessible parking spaces, and loan wheelchairs. Only some intermediate floors are not reachable by elevator.
