Resurrection Church Glücksburg – Modern Architecture and Church Art

The Resurrection Church in Glücksburg is centrally located on the edge of the cemetery and is a unique example of church architecture from the 1960s. The brick building, designed by architect Hermann Rein, was constructed between 1963 and 1965 and was consecrated on May 27, 1965.

Characteristic of the church is its clear, modern architecture with a trapezoidal floor plan, a wooden-clad ceiling, and large colored windows. The windows with their abstract patterns were created by Hans Lilienthal from Bremen. The altar, baptismal font, and pulpit were also designed by architect Hermann Rein, integrated simply and harmoniously into the church space.

Included in the furnishings is an organ built in 1971 by Hinrich Otto Paschen with 30 stops. A slender, freestanding bell tower is connected to the church building by a pergola and together with the church shapes the overall appearance.
