Naval School Mürwik in Flensburg – the "Red Castle by the Sea"

Directly on the Flensburg Fjord lies the Naval School Mürwik, one of the most distinctive buildings in the city. Due to its red brick facade, the traditional training facility of the German Navy is also called the "Red Castle by the Sea." The historic architecture, the waterfront location, and the maritime history make the Naval School a special photographic motif of Flensburg.

The Naval School Mürwik is not open to the public. Visits are only possible on special visitor days and events. Opening hours and dates will be announced for each event. For access during visitor days, a valid identification card is usually required.

With open doors, visitors can explore parts of the historic main building, the tower building with a view over Flensburg, the planetarium, and the military history training center depending on the event. Tours may also be offered.

The Military History Collection in the former commander villa of the Naval School Mürwik is currently not regularly accessible to the public due to renovation work.
