Oluf-Samson-Gang Flensburg – Historical Alley at the Harbor

The Oluf-Samson-Gang is one of the most famous historical alleys in Flensburg. The narrow, paved connection between Norderstraße and Schiffbrücke leads through the northern old town and, with its historic houses, provides an impression of the townscape from past centuries.

The alley is named after the merchant Oluf Samson, who opened his courtyard for public passage around the year 1600. In the 18th century, it was built up on both sides. Today, closely lined, partly colorful residential and artisan houses shape its appearance.

For many decades, the Oluf-Samson-Gang was also known as a former red-light district. This turbulent past gives the alley a unique atmosphere to this day.

The Oluf-Samson-Gang is a popular photographic motif and can be easily combined with a walk through Norderstraße, the historic merchant courtyards, and along the Schiffbrücke.
