Red bricks, red roof tiles, white window frames, white cornices - Gram Castle presents itself in the colours of the Danish flag. The origin of the three-winged building ensemble was a fortified royal farm from the Middle Ages. The current castle was built around 1470. Gram town is located on the shortest route from the Little Belt to the North Sea - an important trade route in the Middle Ages. Which made the castle a convenient spot to collect custom duties during many years. Today, the owners have converted the castle into an ecological farm, cultural venue, hotel, and restaurant. According to legend, the castle is home to a spooky resident: Anne Sophie Schack, the Countess of Gram Castle and Schackenborg Castle. Rumour has it that the cruel mistress killed her maid. Now she haunts Gram as a ghost...
