The royal pantry
The Royal Kitchen Garden at Gråsten Castle stretches across 7,500 square meters and includes greenhouses, trellises, and beetroots. Here, all greenery is grown for the residence periods of the Danish queen at Gråsten Castle. Her majesty and princess Benedikte have put their mark on the vegetable garden. Originally, their mother Queen Ingrid had built the vegetable garden in 1960, but after her death in 2000, the castle was no longer inhabited, and the large vegetable garden was much diminished in size. Today it has been re-established with a modern touch and is open to the public. It features a café and a shop where guests can buy yield from the garden. The sheltered workshop “Væksthuset” (“Greenhouse”) manages the daily operation and sale in collaboration with the castle's gardeners.
