Kompagnietor Flensburg – Historisches Wahrzeichen am Hafen

The Kompagnietor in Flensburg is one of the most significant historical sights of the harbor city. Directly at Flensburg Harbor, at Schiffbrücke 12, stands the impressive brick building, which was built by master builder Dirick Lindingk from 1602 to 1604. Originally, it served as a meeting place for the Flensburg Shipowners' Guild and still reminds us of the city’s rich trading and maritime history.
Particularly noteworthy are the historical architecture and the flood marks on the exterior facade, which tell stories of past storm surges. Since 1996, the European Center for Minority Issues (ECMI) has been located here, focusing on the coexistence of majorities and minorities in Europe.
The Kompagnietor is a popular photo motif and a worthwhile stop during a stroll along the Flensburg harbor promenade. Together with the historic old town, the maritime museum, and the old harbor facilities, it offers exciting insights into the maritime history of Schleswig-Holstein.
