Nordermarkt Flensburg – Historic Marketplace in the Heart of the Old Town

The Nordermarkt in Flensburg is the oldest marketplace in the city and is located in the middle of the historic old town, directly in front of St. Mary's Church. Its history dates back to the time of the city's founding around the year 1200.

Today, historic buildings, cafés, restaurants, and street gastronomy characterize the square. Notable attractions include the Neptune Fountain from 1758 and the Schrangen, a historic arcade from 1595 that was formerly used by bakers and butchers as a sales area.

From the Nordermarkt, the Große Straße and other historic alleys lead through the Flensburg old town. The harbor is also quickly reachable from here. This makes the square an ideal starting point for a city tour through Flensburg.

Today, the Nordermarkt Flensburg is primarily a popular meeting place for strolling, dining, and lingering. Especially in the summer months, the numerous cafés and restaurants around the square create a lively atmosphere.
